So whether you want to add a picturesque destination 5K to your bucket list or seek a new themed run, these unique 5K races will not disappoint you. A 5K - or 3.1 miles - is the most popular race distance, with more participants than any other distance. Runners of all levels can train for and complete a 5K, making it a beginner-friendly race to try. These 5K races will add fun and adventure to your life in a manageable 5K form.

It’s no secret that Big Sur is one of the most beautiful races on the planet. Well, you don’t have to run a whole 26.2 miles, as there’s a Big Sur 5K option. The scenic and adventurous race along Highway 1 includes a breathtaking out-and-back course along Monastery Beach that begins and ends at the iconic finish line of the Big Sur Marathon.

Abbott Dash to the Finish Line, NYC

You can be a part of the legendary New York City Marathon with the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K on the day before the iconic NYC Marathon. The popular 5K race takes you through the skyscraper-laden streets of Midtown Manhattan.   • The Fast and the Furriest 5K run and walk in Rochester, New York, has a festival and events for runners and walkers, plus virtual events that include four-legged friends. Sign up with your pup in support of Verona Street Animal Society.

  • The Fast and the Furriest Fun Run is a furry 5K run and walk supporting rescue pets in Pierce County, Washington. The event happens on a Saturday in July every year.
