Running Shoe Deals for Fall

For many runners, fall is half-marathon and marathon training season. Whether you’re running the New York City Marathon or preparing for your first 5K, having the right running clothes will help you stay comfortable and run strong.

If you’re a runner, you’ll want to invest in a great pair of running shoes. You can often find deals by shopping for last season’s colors and models. Focus on finding shoes that fit comfortably and give your feet room. When we run, our feet expand, so most runners need a half size larger in running shoes than what they wear in regular shoes.

Here are some tips to help you find the best running and training shoe deals this fall:

  • Shop the clearance section. As the seasons change, many shoes go on sale, and you can nab some sweet deals in the clearance aisle.

  • Try different colors. Look for models of shoes that you wear and like and find them in last season’s colors for discounts.

  • Shop at outlets. Visit outlet stores (in person or online) to find some of the best back-to-school deals on fall fitness and activewear items.

  • Try before you buy. When you’re shopping for training shoes, it’s important to feel how the shoes fit so you know they’re comfortable. Head to your local running or sports store and try on shoes to find the best fit for you.

Fitness Gear Discounts

Fall is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe, including fitness gear and equipment. Before you buy new things, take stock of what you have and get rid of any equipment you no longer need or use. It’s a great time to donate gear you’ve outgrown or no longer need to make room for what you really want.

Look for back-to-school savings on backpacks to tote your supplies in style, whether for class or on the playing field. When you shop for backpacks, consider comfort, space, and the number of pockets you need to stash your stuff. When it comes to color, that’s up to your personal preference, but try to go with a shade that you won’t get tired of.

You can shop and save for workout gear by looking for back-to-school and end-of-summer sales. If you’re shopping for your home gym, look for versatile equipment like yoga mats, resistance bands, and dumbbells. A few multi-purpose pieces can go a long way toward making your home workouts efficient without breaking the bank.

Membership Discounts

Many gyms and fitness centers offer fall deals to give members an extra incentive before the slow holiday season. National fitness complexes like the YMCA offer membership deals such as a free month of membership when you join in the fall. Check the local gyms in your area for the latest membership discounts.

Subscription-based fitness memberships often have fall deals as well. You can get a free trial membership, a discounted membership, or limited-time back-to-school deals with many fitness apps and classes.

Tips for Staying Active this Fall

There are great back-to-school deals on activewear.

If you’re stepping up your fitness (or trying to maintain it) this season, here are some tips to help you out:

  • Set S.M.A.R.T. goals. Set fitness goals that are S.M.A.R.T. - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Be detailed in your goal setting and this will help you achieve your goals and stay on track with your workouts.

  • Follow a training plan. A plan gives you a map to get from where you are to your goal race or fitness destination. Visit the Runstreet Training Center for running and fitness training plans to help you step up your fitness and crush your next big race.

  • Sweat together. Find a workout partner, running buddy, or group fitness class to make your workouts more fun. Having someone to work out with will also help you stay accountable as the days shorten, and the weather gets cooler.

  • Track your steps. Walking (and running!) will help you improve your fitness level and burn calories. Use a smartwatch or fitness tracking app on your phone to monitor your daily steps. Set a goal to walk a certain amount of steps per day and gradually increase it until you reach up to 10,000 steps per day.

  • Track your runs. Tracking is one of the best ways to see your progress and assess where you’re at with your training. Use a running app or fitness tracker to track how far and fast you run. This will help you monitor your training

  • Celebrate your progress. When you meet one of your fitness milestones, celebrate. Treat yourself to a new piece of fitness gear or do something you love. Marking your achievements will help you stay motivated to keep pursuing your fitness goals.
