My Story

I’m a NASM-certified fitness trainer and USATF- and RRCA-certified running coach based in Brooklyn, NY. I love staying active and have made it my mission to help others lead a more active, healthy life. I’ve experienced physical and mental transformations from exercise, healthy eating, and self-care. I want to share what I’ve learned plus science-backed resources, workouts, and tips to help others improve their lives through fitness and wellness.

From Makeup to Sweat

My first blog was a makeup blog. It lasted all of two weeks before I ran out of things to say (and ran out of money for trying different makeup). As a journalist, I was writing for other peoples’ websites at the time and wanted to create my own site.

So I decided to write about something I’d been doing most of my life, and that I never ran out of things to talk about - running. And so Runstreet was born in 2010. I got my RRCA running coach certification (later adding USATF and NASM trainer certs), and wrote about training, gear reviews, how-to videos, and essays on running.

In 2012 I moved to New York City, and continued my Runstreet blog sporadically, as I got busy with working different jobs - journalism, petsitting, dogwalking, bartending, and coaching runners.

After the pandemic began in 2020, I finally had time to write, and have grown the Runstreet blog exponentially. I also started our weekly Wellness Wednesday newsletter, which includes exclusive fitness and wellness tips and deals as well as a resuce pet of the week. And I provide running training plans and fitness training to help you slay your fitness goals and stay healthy.

Runstreet Brooklyn Launches

Leading the Runstreet Daydream 5K Art Run & Festival in Brooklyn, NY.

I started the Runstreet Beginning Runners Group in Brooklyn in 2014, and it grew into a whole new kind of event - Art Runs. I combined my love of NYC street art and running and built a community around leading 5K Art Run events. We highlight local artists and murals while encouraging runners to connect with each other and their communties.

My best friend, NYC photographer Marques Jackson, provides stunning running and lifestyle photos for the Runstreet blog and captures the incredible Runstreet Art Run experiences in cities across the U.S. And best of all, he’s offered lots of laughs and witty commentary as we’ve had the chance to work together a lot over the years.

Outside of Runstreet, I enjoy traveling, eating all the tacos, pizza, and breakfast sandwiches, and going on adventures with my dog, a rescue Akita named Kiyoshi, who is the fluffy Runstreet mascot.

I am so grateful for the chance to write about something I love, and to connect with people around the world through Runstreet. It’s been awesome to be able to coach people from all over, and to see your fitness progress. Thank you for your support, and happy moving to you!😊
